(East) Jeolmul Natural Recreation Forest

Forest bathing can make you feel calm, strengthen our cardiovascular functions and prevent asthma and tuberculosis, through its pleasant scents and green colour. Opened in 1997, the Jeolmul Natural Recreation Forest is a great place for forest bathing. There are 40 to 45-year old cedars in a 300-hectare area, and it feels cool even during the height of summer with its cool oceanic wind. The cedars were planted to block the wind and protect citrus trees at first, but became a natural recreation forest later. Within the forest are also mineral springs, ponds, a lawn square and sporting facilities for families and couples use. The name Jeolmul was given because there used to be a temple (Jeol) and minteral water (Mul) in the area and the mineral water that still springs is believed to be effective in treating neuralgia and stomach disorders. Jeolmu Oreum is a small secondary volcanic cone that takes and hour return to climb, and from the top of which you can see Sunrise Peak (Seongsan Ilchulbong) and downtown Jeju.
